| We had a wonderful candlelight church service last night called the Easter Vigil which included the baptisms of 3 toddlers and everyone ringing handheld bells to celebrate Christ's victory over death. We had fresh homemade bread instead of wafers at Eucharist, and champaigne instead of regular wine! Then afterward we had a lamb dinner in our Fellowship Hall. On a personal level, we are celebrating a victory Mike had this past Tuesday in our local elections. He is now one of the two aldermen in our ward in the City of Sunset Hills, Missouri. I've been very occupied with the campaign, my work, and my studies at the Episcopal School for Ministry, which I hope explains why I've been so absent from Xanga since before Christmas. God bless you all and Happy Easter! | | |
| We won!!! It's largely because I had such faith in the Cardinals and I wore red for about 20 days straight!!! But life goes on... I went into a new chaplaincy situation, a work/study program, at another city hospital Sept. 1st. I'm out in traffic with the maniacs again, commuting every morning and night. Getting used to working a regular day shift, 5 days a week, was harder on my physically than I thought it would be. I had to stop and nap a couple of times within the first three weeks. I even went to the ER with weird symptoms. That was a good thing to do--to find out how nice our ER is at this hospital where I'm now at. It is not a very busy ER, and you get very good attention. There is a decent stipend associated with this position, better pay actually than my old jobs, but the program only lasts for 1 year. There's lots of reading and writing to do for the peer group class meetings, so my life is very crowded right now, because I've also gone back to seminary, and am taking 2 classes. If you've a mind to pray, and I hope you do, please pray for my friends Matt and Marj, Rosi and Randy, and Ellen and Mike. There are health concerns with Matt and Randy, and Mike's mother (my boss's mother-in-law) was injured last week rescuing her dog from a fire that completely destroyed her home. Please pray for the right decisions to be made by my fellow Americans as we vote on Tuesday. | | |
| I'M DREAMING OF A CZECH PRE-CHRISTMAS
(Sung to the tune of "White Christmas")
I'm dreaming of a Czech Pre-Christmas
Even though I've yet to get to go
Where the Charles River glistens
And my children listen
To hear how much money it'll cost to go.
I'm dreaming of a Czech Pre-Christmas
With every personal check I write
May your days be merry and bright,
And may all our Pre-Christmas plans jell right!

| SKIP DOWN A FEW OF MY ENTRIES AND RETURN TO
the list of people for whom I have to remind myself to pray. Join in again, please. I am in a blue funk of a mood and about the only thing this day off for me has in store is to do laundry and to try to stay out of trouble. So I re-read my prayer list and invite you to help me out by reading it again as well. Thanks...and may you feel God's presence in your lives today in a new and special way. We all need to pause and think about feeling that every now and then, or the unpleasantries in our lives, including people who tick us off on a regular basis, will permanently get us down. "RESIST THAT! Pray instead," I am saying to myself. | | |
